Gather up the Young'uns

Hey fellow old timers, gather up your kids and grandkids and park their
carcasses in front of this blog. Get the snacks out. Heck, lets build
us a campfire and roast some marshmellows for them.
I got some news for the younger set, say, anybody 12 and under and maybe even
some of them kiddos up to about 16 or so. Everybody comfy ?
Now listen up.
Did you see that game Sunday night ? The one where the Boys of the Blue Star
whipped, defeated, smashed, creamed, and annihilated the low life, classless, clueless
and generally inept eagirls ??
Thats the way it should be.
I know ya'll are too young to know this, but the Cowboys are always supposed to beat
them Philly dogs like that. Sure, most of you have watched as us old folks ranted
and raved about our beloved Boys, talked about the good old days, how good the Cowboys were. Ya'll probably thought we were crazy, like the old uncle who talks about how much better life used to be. But you see its true. Thats how the old
Cowboys used to do it. Us old folks just got spoiled to seeing it, ALL THE TIME.
It didn't matter who the Boys were playing, where they were playing, or what night
the Boys were playing. You just knew the Good Guys in the Silver Helmets were
gonna win the game. You even got to expecting to have the game won before the 60
minutes was up, a little un-wind time before the score became official. I cant
remember how many times I was hoping nobody would get hurt in mop-up time, just like
i was worrying last night about it.
So quit yer snickering the next time Dad rambles on about Staubach, Drew Pearson, Dorsett, Aikman, Smith, Irvin, or when Grandpa wheezes his way through the list
of Meredith, Hill, Hayes, Lilly, Howley, Jordan, Too-Tall and the beautiful Harvey
Martin.
WE REALLY WEREN'T MAKING IT ALL UP. THATS THE WAY COWBOYS PLAY FOOTBALL.
Luckily, you young hopes of the next generation finally got to see it for yourself
cause that game Sunday Night was as good as one as I remember seeing.
The fact that it happened against the dirty birds from philly just makes it even more fun.later Poke

Eight down, eight to go. This isn't about counting chickens before they hatch. This is get in, sit back, buckle up and hang on time. Of the next eight, only the Jets and Eagles are below .500. The remaining four road games are against teams playing .500 or better starting with the New York football Giants. The Giants are a better team now than when we saw them in September. This is the game I am most concerned with today. This game will go a long way in cementing an NFC East title. Now is the time to muster your Mojo, your Voodoo, your Karma, your Divine Intervention or whatever you've got. A win against the Giants will also go a long way in the playoff picture. Remember, best record, home field! How important is that you ask? Think Sunday, December 31, 1967, think minus 13, think wind chill of minus 40, think Bart Starr sneaking one in as defensive lineman skated backwards because they could not sink their cleats into "The Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field".
