Just another day at the Shrine

okay..good job Boys !!! 6-1 is good no matter how
you get there.
took a few pics, thought i would share them with
my comments.
first one was on the big screen....

believe it or not Newman ran routes and caught balls with the receivers during
pre-game warmups while the secondary did their warm-ups.

the crowd in section 34 couldnt be bothered to get off their butts to holler
until later when the team practically begged them to...first time I had seen
this section act this way, (more on this later)

TO made his presence felt...How does he get this wide open ??

hard to run when you take their feet out from under them !!

Now...this is where I RANT, the same bunch who would only holler when it was 3rd down
AND the team waved their arms to incite them...had no problem bouncing up
and screamin their fool heads off when asked "who wants a free T-shirt?".
a deja blue t-shirt at that....gimme a break !!

Oh well....enough griping. THE GOOD GUYS WON !!! no serious injuries, and we managed
to get out of the parking lot with minimum stress. I always take a shot of the final
score...

By the way, for those of you wondering why the Cowboys didnt go deep....
Romo didnt have enough time AND the vikes had 2 safeties deep pretty much all day.
Glad to see Tony didnt force anything and costs us.
and the worst day at Texas Stadium is still better than a day anywhere else.

A "MUST PLAY GOOD" GAME

maybe its safe to come back outside now.
hopefully the fallout from last week is gone by now.
The Good Guys lost. I gave myself about 30 minutes of
being mad about. Then i started worrying about the Vikings.
So we find out we dont have the best pass defense last week.
This week we get to see how good our run defense is gonna be.
Aint this fun ???????
Im looking forward to seeing what we do, and how we do it.
Counting on Wade to come up with a good plan. Then counting
on the Boys to execute it.
ITS VERY IMPORTANT FOR THE BLUE STARS TO PLAY GOOD THIS WEEK.
Thats gonna tell me if they are pros, focused on what needs to
be done, not looking behind wishing they would have done it different.
Im not much of a predictor but I keep thinking that J. Jones is gonna
have a big game, soon.
And one of these weeks Mr. Owens is gonna bust loose on some team. I mean
really tear somebody up. Im thinking this is gonna be the week it happens.
Anyway, I am still enjoying these guys this year.later Poke

My thoughts to get thru this next week

[IF]

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

--Rudyard Kipling

get ready for all the dfw media to cry,rip and generally shovel dirt
into the Cowboys grave. not to mention all the "fans" who will blame
every possible thing for our loss this week. when it gets totally crazy
i will just keep reading this.

Tip Your Hat and move on.

well thats not what i was expecting.
spot a potent offense 14 points, fight your way
back to take a second half lead at home.
then.....give up 17 unanswered points.
somedays the other team outplays you.
today that happened. them pats have a lotta weapons.
we have got to start playing good much quicker to start
a game. WE ALSO HAVE TO CUT DOWN ON THE PENALTIES.
we arent quite good enough to beat a great team and
have 100 yards worth of penalties.
it was still fun to watch the game, a couple of things
here and there and the Boys could have snuck a win outta this one.
sometimes you just gotta "tip your hat" and start getting ready
for next week. later Poke

ps Okay that last TD made me mad, if the pats make it to the Super Bowl
i hope we run the score up on them.

I DONT CARE !!

I gotta quit reading the sports pages.
I gotta quit listening to ESPN radio.
Looks like i gotta quit listening to Sirius NFL radio too.
WHY ?
Becuase this week very very few give the Good Guys In Blue
a chance to win this weeks game versus the evil new englanders.
Nearly every stinking show picks the patriots. I think there
was only one that picked the Cowboys. All day Thursday I heard
it over and over and over.
Brady is better, Moss is better, their LB's are better, their
coach is better.
I DO NOT CARE !!!!!!
I AM A COWBOYS FAN. that gives me the right to BELIEVE that no matter
what stats say, what past performances say or any other "proof" they offer
MY COWBOYS WIN THIS GAME !!
Call me a "homer", call me uninformed, uneducated, naive, blind, dumb.
YA GOTTA BELIEVE that your team can beat anybody.
You see it every week. somebody always loses that should have won and vice versa.
This week you get to see it happen at Texas Stadium. like # 81 said....
"getcha popcorn ready". later Poke

OFFICIAL POST GAME WRAP UP

okay so its tuesday afternoon. not exactly a post game wrap
but gimme a break. no way was i gonna type anything last night.
it took me till nearly 1 am to wipe the stupid grin off my face enough
to go to sleep. and i surely couldnt put a coherent thought together.
that was as weird a game as i have ever seen in watching football.
all those interceptions, the fumble, the returned kick, fake punt
and on and on.
how bout that dallas DEFENSE ?? all those turnovers (6) and they
only gave up 1 field goal !! i know buffalo isnt a powerhouse but
the boys on the D played hard all night. even when they kept getting
sent out after yet another miscue. ( see, miscue is one of those cool
words i wouldnt have thought to use last night).
and to be honest i would have been okay changing qb's late in the game
because sometimes you just have a bad day and the game was close enough
i thought maybe let the old guy take his little dinks and dunks and see
if he could move us down the field without a turnover. (please note this is NOT
a call to change qb's, i was just thinking during the game we needed to
try something different )
but if Bums boy would have done that we would have missed seeing what makes
Tony special. he doesnt quit, doesnt give up on himself and always thinks
he can make the next play better than the last one. this game tells me more
about this TEAM than anything ive seen in a long time. guess it also tells me we
have found a kicker with ice water in his veins. style points be darned, i will
take the W !! later Poke

Hang in There

its halftime...we are down 17-10.
after 4 !! thats right 4 interceptions...
2 defensive td's by the bills.
only down by 7 points.
get away from the ledge...put down the remote.
to have played this poorly and still have a chance...
thats got to be sign.
stick with playing hard. make adjustments.
come out and kick their buffalo butts.
out. Poke

tellin it like it is

okay, everybody has had time to study the stats, records, and predictions.
now its time for some biased, personal feelings.
the Boys oughta kick the bills butts Monday night.
its that simple.
if you are gonna be an elite team, one that other teams dread
having to play, this is the kind of game you win.
we are going against a rookie QB, a rookie RB, a team that has won
only 1 game this year so far.
the boys need to make up their minds that they are going to show up,
play hard for 60 minutes, win the game, then grab their lunch boxes
and get on the plane for Dallas.
this game should show us if they are true pros or if they have been reading
too much and watching too much tv telling them how great they are.
i expect them to take care of business and i am looking forward to watching it.

this monday night you can be THE GUY, the one who has all the witty and wise
yet ever timeful things to say while watching the game. your friends will
come to realize that you know more about football, and the Cowboys in particular
than they do. That admiration and $4.73 will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks so pay attention.
