Christmas Wish List # 3

hmm, these lists aren't working out like I planned. Sure THE BOYS won and that was
one wild finish ( it is over isn't it ?? I passed out from holding my breath ,
fell over into the tree, hit my head on the new football display case I got for Christmas and haven't woke up yet). I dreamed that a missed field goal turned into
a game winning touchdown pass. I know better than to over-do it on all that Christmas
food and sweet stuff. Truth is definitely better than fiction.

anyway, I guess since Christmas 2005 has come and gone my next list will have to
be credited against next years wishes. That makes sense because the game actually
won't be played until next year.
there are 16 possible scenarios where our beloved Boys can get into the playoffs.
there are 267,587 websites, newspapers, or tv stations where you can see, print, hear watch and be confused or you can just take my word for it and ROOT FOR THESE TEAMS.
GO Atlanta, philly, Oakland and New Orleans.....and the Cowboys.
I was going to explain all that but then this site would join the other thousands and
just create more visual pollution so I will stop.
oh by the way, if you are watching the game and the Rams break loose deep for a game
winning touchdown and you see an old, overweight, only slightly balding, slow,
limping guy dressed in what looks like brand new stuff he got for Christmas rush
down from about 42 rows up and make a game winning tackle...Please contribute
to the GET-POKE-OUTTA-JAIL fund, and if that works out okay then I will ask
for contributions for my then needed medical funds cuz I am pretty sure I will
hurt something doing that. HAPPY NEW YEAR.....later poke

Christmas Wish List # 2

Okay, so wish list # 1 didn't work out so well.
That doesn't mean I don't still believe in miracles, and a miracle
is what it is going to take for our beloved Cowboys to get into the playoffs now.
Well not a miracle really but a lot of things are going to have to happen
for this season to not end on New Years Night against St. Louis.
For an extremely well researched explanation of the NFL playoff system
and all the tie-breakers and strength of victory calculations and possible
scenarios I suggest you click to this link and read until your head spins
and your eyes burn while your stomach twists into tight knots.

CowboysZone

Start with post # 1 and go until you get tired of it. Post # 1 has been written,
edited, proofed, cussed and discussed. I am pretty sure it is correct because
there are some very sharp folks on that message board who spend a lot of time
making sure the info posted is correct. I say I am pretty sure because I am not
smart enough to know 100% that all their info is correct.

OR....you can not go there and just read my Christmas Wish List # 2 ( which is actually going to end up being # 2 of a 3 part series...which I guess comes from
me listening to sooo many Baptist preachers ) anyway I digress.

Here I go..List 2.

1. Dallas beats Carolina..without this one , the rest lose a lot of significance.
2. Atlanta beats Tampa Bay...this may be disputed by some but bear with me, remember
I intend on using my 3 wishes in list form.
3. New York Giants beat Washington....and no this isn't only because the redskins
beat us so bad last week.
4. Baltimore beats Minnesota...believe me, any other time I wouldn't care what
Baltimore does.
See, its a short, easy to remember, very possible list.
This week we all have to be Cowboy-Falcons-Giants-Ravens Fans.Heck if I had the money
I would go buy those 3 teams jerseys and wear them under my Cowboys stuff.(turned
inside out of course cuz I really don't like any of them but I would wear them.)

If this list works out, Dallas would be 9-6, Carolina 10-5, Atlanta 9-6, Tampa Bay
9-6, New York 11-4 , Washington 8-7, Baltimore WHO-CARES, and Minnesota 8-7.
At this point I am conceding the NFC East to NY Giants, the NFC North to Chicago,
the NFC West to Seattle and trying to set Carolina up to win the NFC South while
still keeping the Pokes in good shape for a wild-card spot.

There are still a few details that will need to be taken care of in the last week
of the season of course but lets take this one week at a time to avoid confusion.
I don't multi-task well so I limit my worries to one week at a time. Stay Tuned.

Verbal Valium

This is for all the people who cant get their prescriptions refilled quick enough.
I have read the papers, all the dfw area columnists are writing the Boys off.
I have watched the sports shows, all the TV guys are writing the Boys off.
I have visited the "message boards" ( which is where the supposedly really good fans
go to spout their wisdom of all things football) and the reactions there amaze me.
from all I have read, seen, and heard the Cowboys now need to : FIRE PARCELLS,
re-do the whole offensive line, bench Jones for Barber, put Romo in, cut the kicker,
release the punter, ditch the long snapper, play the rookies more, bench the rookies,
get a real General Manager, play more wide open , be more conservative, switch back to the 4-3, stay in the 3-4, re-hire the kicking coach, fire the Def. Coordinator Zimmer, quit using Aaron Glenn to cover the best receiver, play Roy Williams closer
to the line, move Roy Williams back into coverage, RE-HIRE Jimmy Johnson, change
our draft pick and take Merriman instead of Ware ( who was much loved earlier this year ), ohh and the most analytical of all...QUIT WEARING THE BLUE JERSEYS.
I HATED seeing us lose Sunday. But what I really hate is seeing "fans" give up on
a team. Last time I looked its a "16 game " season. there are still multiple
scenarios where the Cowboys can get into the playoffs. Then its a whole new season.
35-7, that's a butt whipping. Anybody who has ever played sports has had games like
that happen. Nothing works right, just cant seem to get things going. Its not fun.
nobody planned it that way. The redskins just plain whipped us, beat our tails,
and turned us every which way but loose. Okay, it happens, its over, move on.
if you have been paying attention this year every week a team wins that wasn't
supposed to.
there are 2 games left, time to start thinking about the next one not the last one. Get Carolina on our minds, take care of winning it and hope the right
teams get beat to help us out. We don't have time to moan and complain , that's what
the off-season is for. Regroup, gather your wits, work harder, stay focused.
these are pretty much the same guys who had a 7-3 record not that long ago.
sure we have had injuries, so has every other team so that's not an excuse .
anyway I had to rant...the attitude of the Cowboy Kingdom is disturbing right now.
reminds me way too much of the old Oiler fans. Me I am going to start working
on my Christmas Wish List # 2 since #1 didn't work out too well. later Poke

Christmas Wish List # 1

Okay I said I would look at the other games this week and let everybody
know who needs to beat who to help the Boys out. I did look. I am now
confused. Way too many "ifs" and "buts". I never did learn how to use a
slide rule and I never trusted anybody that ever did learn so I am
just going to ignore all those guys. Take it one week at a time. No big picture
for me. Tunnel vision. Besides its Christmas so a lot of time usually spent pondering the Good Guys has to go to getting to a mall, dodging the crowds and
just being festive. So here's what I want to happen this week in the NFL.

New England beats Tampa Bay ( I hate NE but TB is in our conference).
Kansas City beats New York Giants ( no brainer..duhh).
New Orleans beats Carolina (anybody that may keep us out of the playoffs needs to lose)
Tennessee beats Seattle (this one probably doesn't matter but you never know it
might keep us from going to the Northwest in the playoffs)
Chicago beats Atlanta ( I say let Chicago go ahead, win their division, beat out
our wild-card competition , surely we could beat Kyle Orton).
DALLAS beats washington.....cuz we need to plus its washington.
oh yeah and philthydelphia loses .....just cause I don't like them.( no playoff implications at all just a healthy dose of meanness, spite and pettiness on my part.)
if I missed a game sorry, I'm no expert, besides its like you have been told
all your life....you get what you pay for and this only costs a little time.

Looks Like We Are Not Just Americas Team

What a game !! That was sooo intense that it was almost hard to enjoy. It was
actually Monday morning before I stopped being nervous about that game. ( and that
was only after I watched it on TV again to make sure it wasn't a dream.)

5 lead changes, an opposing runner who had 3 TD's against our great defense,
a wide open Dante Hall getting the pass on the 24 yard line WITH enough time
for the Chiefs to kick a field goal to tie the game. I was as nervous as a
long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.( I had to work in at least one old timers saying, and that ones nicer than the other one I know about a "lady" in church.)

Not to mention that there were about 15,000 Chiefs fans there doing their best
to pretend it was their Home field. Every time the Boys had the ball at one end of
the field they made way too much noise. Especially the one sitting right in front
of me. He was a nice guy and all that. He just didn't realize that I didn't want to be
friends with a Chiefs fan for those 3 1/2 hours. I admit it. I am a bad sport.
Always have been, I try not to be, but it doesn't look like I am going to outgrow
that bad habit anytime soon. I couldn't stand the idea of having to tell him good game if the Cowboys had lost. I would have done it but I wouldn't have enjoyed it.
(okay maybe I wouldn't have done it but I like to think I might have).

Anyway, it was an awesome place to be Sunday afternoon. Fun game to watch.
Even the halftime show was cool with kids and dancers and fireworks and THE
CHEERLEADERS dressed like Santas helpers. Fireworks. LOUD , OBNOXIOUS FANS, (ours mainly ), crowded parking lots, cool enough to feel like football weather.
AND...some fat guy with a white beard who apparently likes the Cowboys better than
the Chiefs and gave us all an early Christmas present when he H0-HO-Ho'ed so loud
that it blew that last second field goal attempt.....WIDE RIGHT.

Later this week i will look at who needs to beat who to help us out the most in the playoff race but for now I am just beginning to really enjoy Sundays game.

ITS beginning to look a lot like Christmas..........later Poke

Its all my fault

Well I feel terrible. The Boys lost, and they played terrible on
offense. Our defense keeps putting up good games but the offense
is killing them ( and me ).
anyway due to some travel plans and some Holiday festivities
I only watched 4 plays of the whole game. Gasp..Cough..I know
hard to believe isn't it ?? I saw the first 4 plays of the game before
getting on the road. So don't blame Bledsoe...Don't blame our offensive
tackles, our weak guards or our center (who cant keep his guy blocked
long enough for Bledsoe to even hand the ball off to JJ.
NOPE...BLAME ME. Its all my fault, I wasn't glued in front of the TV.
I couldn't call 1-800-BILL and rush in some plays or strategy.
I did listen to the game on the radio in the car. Its been a while
since I have done that.
Here's a warning.....don't be anywhere near me while I am listening to
the Cowboys while trying to drive. Those people with cell phones or putting
on their make-up couldn't have driven worse than I was when I was listening
as the Boys . Its hard to drive when you are pounding the steering wheel,
turning the volume up ( or down when you get really mad ) and screaming at the top
of your lungs. I bet it looked pretty weird too since I was alone in the car.
anyway...All is not lost in spite of what the experts say. Just gotta take care
of the rest of the games now and maybe hope for some help along the way.
keep the faith......BEAT the Chiefs...and all will be well in my world again.

If We Make it Through December.........

Everythings gonna be alright I know, its the toughest part of our schedule
and I shiver when I think of where we have to go..... Okay my apologies to Merle
Haggard for changing the words to his classic song around but it sure applies to the
Cowboys.
4 games this month, played in 21 days, 3 on the road, 1 at home.
First game is the New York Football Giants ( the reason us old timers say that is because at one time there were also the New York Baseball Giants but they moved to San Francisco ).
The Giants have the same record we do, 7-4. THEY are 5-1 at home so far this season.
We did beat them at home but it was tough and it took OverTime to do it. What we do
against them may be a good indicator of how the month is going to go for US.
Secong game is the Kansas City Chiefs. They also have the same record as the Boys. BUT...This game at least is played at Texas Stadium. The Chiefs
are 3-3 on the road but as the UnderArmour commercial says.."We must protect this house !!! ". That becomes even more true since this is the ONLY HOME game this month.
Third game is against the hated DEADSKINS in Washington. They are
5-6 right now. Ignore that. They are 4-2 at home. They have already beaten us once, at our own place. They were down 13-0 late in the game. It was Monday night.
It was a game that the Cowboys should have and could have won but we didn't.
That makes this game even more important. Division records and all that stuff.
So now its payback time.
BUT...Don't let their record lull you to sleep. Its Washington, they hate US
and its at their place...ain't gonna be no walk in the park.
Fourth gameis the Carolina Panthers. They have an 8-4 record.
They are 4-1 at Home. They have the "great Jake", and a good defense. Its the day
before Christmas...maybe the Cowboys will be ticked off at being away from home.
Hopefully when we get to this game our record will have 3 more wins added to it.
It's real hard to predict this far ahead of time what is going to happen or how.
Too many things can change, injuries, losing streaks that take you out of contention,
winning streaks that build your confidence. Me, I'm betting that this game has huge
implications for if, when and where the Cowboys play in the postseason.

4 games, 21 days apart, against teams that have a combined 27-17 record. One of whom
(and it happens to be the only one with a losing record )has already beaten us AT HOME.

So...just like the great Merle, and also my brother and I always say.
If WE Make it Through December.......I am sure looking forward to it.
I will worry later about the games in January and who knows, maybe February.
For now, DECEMBER presents a big enough headache..and I am not even talking about
Christmas shopping. later Poke

too much to think about

first off, i gotta say i am sorry for not posting in 11 days.
i was concentrating so hard on what the Boys needed to do and the best
way for them to do it i just couldnt get loose to actually type anything.
well..that , and putting up the outside Christmas lights, practicing a Christmas
play, and the other 2 million things going on this time of year.
I hope everybody had a Happy Thanksgiving....i did until about 6:30 when that
guy from the Broncos , who had been released by the Giants, all of a sudden
turned into Superman and and just ripped my heart out in over-time at the Tabernacle.
It was a great day for Thanksgiving at Texas Stadium, not hot, not cold, plenty
of good food (cooked by my wonderful wife ), steaks, sausages, brocoli-rice casserole, jalepeno peppers stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon.
You know..traditional Thanksgiving food ( for me anyway..i hate turkey.)
I'm sure if you told me on Nov. 13th that the Boys would win 2 of 3 games
played in 11 days i would have been very happy knowing that.
BUT...when we won AT Philly, then beat Detroit in a sloppy manner I guess I
let my hopes get too high. I got greedy. I wanted that 3rd win !!!!!!!
It was a great game to watch, they score, we score, they score, we score,
they score, we score. ( 21-21 at this point for all ya'll to lazy to do the math)
Then the sun peeked out from behind the clouds....the throwback uniforms were
beautiful....we had a chance to get a field goal and go ahead for the first time.
And we had Billy the Kid back..fresh off a 56 yard kick last week. This 34 yard
kick was gonna clinch the Happy Thanksgiving part.
But not Thursday, it wasnt gonna happen. Billy missed, wide left , not by much
but does that really matter ? He missed. It was at that point that i got a real
bad feeling in my stomach. ( and it wasnt the aforementioned menu items either)
The rest is just bad news and a couple days late so no sense in mentioning what took
place after that. Time to lick our wounds, and get ready to beat the New York
football Giants. ohhh yeah and finish getting those Christmas decorations up.
i will return with much more enthusiasm but that was just a tough loss to take.

Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus...Christmas in November

i so wanted to write this last night. i was just so wound up i couldn't figure out
how to do it without just rambling and ranting and raving about last nights game.
WHAT an ending to a big BIG game.
First off, our Boys came out flat, played uninspired, sloppy and weak football.
We were lucky to only be behind 14-7 at the half. That mistake by Bledsoe where
he tried to Brett Favre a dump pass to Barber when Barber was busy blocking could have been the end of our hopes to keep the Philly crowd out of the game.
Then we came out for the second half and it seemed we had made no adjustments to
Phillys newfound ability to run the football.
Like Madden said, and i paraphrase because i cant be expected to accurately quote
someone.......when the green shirts are pushing the white shirts backwards on both sides of the ball your team isnt doing good. And thats what was happening. Our lines
were getting whipped. Bledsoe was hurried, hit, harassed, harried and basically
not getting much time to throw. As i watched the game i felt like Drew just wasnt
"on " his throws. Then when i looked at the stats i see Drew was 17 for 24 for 196
yards with a 91.7 QB rating. I guess my eyes were playing tricks on me. I am not
an expert, i go with my gut feeling. Luckily i waited until i could check the stats
before i started writing this thing.
I was starting to think our defense would never stop the Eagles, then we make a
good stop at the goal line and hold Philly to a field goal . That turns out to be a huge difference.
All of a sudden, with only 3:44 left and the good guys losing 20-7 that same listless, uninspired bunch of players start to do something..away from home, at a field known for its "home field advantage ". A 20 something yard run from an offense
that only had 58 yards running the whole game. Then good old Terry Glenn ( not Aaron
like Madden kept saying ) slips past the Eagles and scores on a 20 yard pass.
Okay, cool..showing a little life. Too little too late probably but hey hold your heads up and play hard. Good to see even if you dont win the game.
Then a short kickoff and the Eagles have the ball on the 35, all they need is to get
a couple of first downs and we are finished, through ,kaput, finito.
2nd and seven, we havent really stopped them rushing the ball very good all night.

This is where Santa Claus comes to the rescue, in NOVEMBER!!!!!

The Eagles do the unexpected..a short pass, to the outside. To a WIDE-OPEN ROY WILLIAMS !! a 46 yard interception return for a TOUCHDOWN !! throw in a block
by Bradie James # 56 ( not scott shanle # 58 like Madden and Michaels announced )
---side note here----the players have numbers and their NAMES on their jerseys
so it shouldnt be that hard to get it right John and AL.
and oh yeah, also James is black, Shanle is white so if the
names and numbers dont help use that information to help.

sorry...i just get tired of those guys. i realize the play on the field was interfering with their ongoing diatribe about the " T.O. thing ", but try and give
us accurate info if you do talk about the play.

Anyway, thank you Santa McNabb. i now do believe in miracles.
Congrats to the Cowboys who didnt play their best but never quit and found a way
to win, on the road, from behind. Thats a good sign.
Man arent ya'll glad i didnt rant and ramble ?? later Poke

Is this Heaven or What ??

WOW...15 days since the Boys played a football game. Thats a long time,
too long. I have been going thru major withdrawals. I enjoy watching other
teams, high school, college, pros, but come on now. It's time to get cranking
again on the way to SUPER BOWL XL (40 for those who don't know their Roman numerals.)
Sure i enjoyed watching the Colts beat the Pats Monday night. Seeing Texas beat Baylor saturday filled an hour or so of my time. Watching the Eagles and Redskins
play was torture...how can you enjoy a game when you hate both teams ?
The TO fiasco was interesting for about..ohhh 20 seconds but its not like it
was anything unexpected.
But now.....the wait is nearly over. This is fixin to get good..really good.
The Cowboys play 3 games in 11 days !!!!!!! I may OD from all the excitement.
November should show us what to expect from our beloved team. It's not an easy
task playing 3 games in 11 days. Most coaches would never choose to do it if they didn't have to. But...BUT...if we can get thru this trial with some good wins(plural)
it puts in a good spot to do something this year.
Those 3 games in 11 days are the only games we play in a 34 day span. That should give the Boys time to regroup, re-energize, repair and get ready to finish the season
strong. Coach Landry always seemed to get the Boys peaking at the end of the season,
it sure would be nice to see it happen again.
So i am getting ready, got the yard cleaned up, havent started the Christmas decorating yet...got those 11 days penciled in for nothing but worrying and
writing about the Cowboys. now...lemme make sure i got the number for 911
just in case. later Poke

No Bye Weeks for Bloggers

aahhh, the Cowboys bye week. i can relax, take it easy and clear my head
for the big push to the playoffs. NOT !!!!
nope i have discovered that there is no bye week for us creative writer types.
the ideas just cant be bottled up. its like trying to stop the waters of Lake
Ponchatrain from spilling over the levees of New Orleans.

I like football fans in general, Cowboy football fans in particular but I have a
huge gripe with a lot of them. They tend to think that THEY could do what the players
do, and do it sooo much better. They think that there should never be any mistakes,
no fumbles, nary an interception, no one should ever complete a pass against their
team and when the other team scores its just totally unacceptable. so in order to
teach a lesson in reality i have come up with a plan.

This week i want any of you who think this football stuff is so easy to try some things for me.
Go outside..i know this means getting out of the recliner but hey work with me here.
Get a football, a real football not one of those tiny, soft, easy to grip ones your
kids have but a real one. Now pace off about 15 yards from the tree in your yard.
Now, with no one chasing you or trying to tear your head from your body throw the
football at the tree. See how many times you actually hit the tree. Now move back
10 more yards, try it again...and be honest about how many times you hit the tree.
If your percentage equals your favorite QB's completion percentage i will be greatly
surprised, but remember nobody is trying to keep you from throwing the ball either.

Next step..go back to where you started throwing ( 15 yards or so ). Now, turn around
facing the opposite direction from your tree, bend over and try snapping the ball
at the tree. Okay now wipe the dirt from your face from where your head hit the ground when you tried this and record your results. Did you even come close to the tree ??

For our next experiment you may want to go the park. Lots of room to run there you
know. Okay..take off running as fast as you can....after 20 yards while still running
as fast as you can just turn your head around and look up just like you are looking
for a football..did that slow you down any at all ?? did it make you a little uncomfortable ?? were you at least a little worried about running into something ?

Now this next test may get you into a little trouble with the wife so wait till she
has gone to work or something. Move that big recliner into the middle of the living
room floor. Put all your kids in it, or the dog or something really heavy. About
300 pounds worth of heavy. Now get into a 3 point stance..say " HUT HUT " really
loud ( the snap was on 2 ) and charge into that chair. Push it around as much as you
want to. Drive it back..cmon..harder..faster. Now, do that 50 or 60 times. are you tired yet ?? arent you glad it wasnt pushing you back ?? now remember..a real
defensive lineman isnt going to just passively let you do that but maybe now you
have a sense of what those big uglies (offensive lineman ) do for a living.

Lets see...we have been a QB, a long snapper ( without the 2 big mean guys hitting us), a Defensive back, an offensive lineman..whats next ??

Oh yeah..field goal kickers. Nahhh if you arent convinced by now there is no sense
in embarassing ourselves any further.

Anyway i hope this helps. Now maybe next game you will be a little less critical
of your team. If you still think you could do it as good or better please contact
your local mental health professional. mention the words " delusions of grandeur".
also mention you read it here for 25% off. plus maybe i will get a referral fee or something. later Poke

Its not even November Yet !!!

woe is me....toil and trouble...no thats not it.
it was a dark and stormy night......no actually its been very nice here
in the metroplex.
these are the times that try mens souls......wait thats been done already.

i am searching for just the right words to convey the general sense of dread
i feel coming from the "fans" of the Cowboys. hey i hated watching them lose to
Seattle. i knew 10 points wasnt going to be enough to win, just like i knew 13
points wasnt going to cut it against Washington.

BUT...STOP THE INSANITY !!

We are 7 games into a 16 (sixteen ) game season. the record is 4-3 not 0-7.
we could even say that we are only 3 plays from being 7-0, or 1-6 to be totally
honest with you, cuz they did kick some serious eagle butt !!! but all the other
games could have gone either way.

so, remember in my first post or so i said save the Prozac for later ??
it might be a good time for some of the hand-wringing, hair-pulling,
crying in their beer types to pop a few before they lose it completely.

a good win this week against Arizona and this team is 5-3 at the halfway mark
with their bye week coming up. the 3 new starters on offense from last week
did okay, more playing time should only help them. Julius Jones should be back
after that. We have a new kicker, and while i dont know if he is any better
than Lose Cortez...oops i mean Jose at least maybe he wont point at somebody
else if and when he does miss a chip shot 29 yard field goal attempt.

I think we are still going to have a great season. My hopes are still high.
My expectations havent dimmed even a little bit. I have learned to have great
patience and enduring optimism. Even crushing losses will not burn out the light
of hope i have.

I have learned a lot watching the Houston Astros. later Poke

I gotta get some closer seats !!

okay cool another win at the tabernacle known as Texas Satdium.
im happy with that. but hey i cant always write feel good funny
stuff or i wont be taken seriously as a journalistic phenom.
so today i have to let ya'll know Parcells apparently cant hear
me from my seats in section 13 about 40 rows up.

when we stopped the giants and recovered that fumble my brain kicked
into over-drive and i starting thinking of our best way to get out of there
with a win. i learned from Coach Landry that you always have to be thinking
ahead so i couldnt just be happy that we forced and recovered a fumble
and stopped a touchdown from happening. no sirree not me.

so we ran the ball, the giants used their 1st timeout. then we run again and they
use their 2nd timeout and i have my plan ready to unleash on the Giants.
i am thinking that we run the ball one more time, preferably a QB sneak
cause i am not impressed with our ball handling that close to the opponents
goal line and i can see a huge gap between our center and left guard.

i know that as soon as we run again the giants will use their last timeout
and it will be 4th down and probably 8 for a first down. there will also
be about 52 seconds on the clock and the Giants will be out of timeouts.
we are ahead by 7 points 13 to 6.

now..heres where some of you are going to think i am TOTALLY NUTS.
i want our trusty punter to catch the snap, wait as long as possible
and then simply step backwards out of the endzone. SAFETY, 2 points to the Giants.
score 13-8. clock probably down to about 49 seconds. Giants with no timeouts.

Free kick from the 20. Cortez had been kicking off to the goal line all day from the
35 so he could probably get it to the 15. McBriar our punter has a super strong
leg so maybe you let him kick it high and as deep as possible. either way
it puts the giants back farther than a punt (a quick one especially ) which
let them start their last drive from their own 48 yard line. 2 plays later
they score the tying touchdown.

my thoughts are that with no timeouts they couldnt just go down the middle of the field, they would have to work the sidelines and they would have 20 yards or so more field to cover . i know we are occasionally weak covering deep throws but we had
done a good job all day of pressuring Manning. on the td throw to Shockey terrence
newman was crawling almost getting to Manning before the throw.

anyway it all worked out, the Boyz won the game because they won the coin toss,
and the offense did just enough for Jose to kick a redeeming field goal in OT
to win.

but the extra football i got to watch i would have gladly traded for a win in
regulation and i kinda liked my plan. Ole Bill probably would have liked it too
but he just couldnt hear me screaming from clear across the field telling him what
to do. so feel free to send money, lotsa money and next year i will get me some
tickets at least on Parcells side of the field and we will probably end up
in the Super Bowl or something. anyway thats what i was thinking, i could be wrong,
later Poke.

ps. good thing this isnt an Astros blog or i would have to explain how i would
have gotten the astros out of that 9th inning mess tonight and my brain is already
overtaxed from sundays football game. later Poke

what a day to be at Texas Stadium

man oh man what a beautiful day sunday was. the weather was great, the crowd
was rocking from start to finish, and the silver and blue put a butt-whipping
on the eagles....and t.o. only had 5 catches for 50 yards and NO TOUCHDOWNS !!!

but i'm getting ahead of myself. the last 14 or so days have been hectic around
here. i havent had any super duper insights on the cowboys hence the long time
between updates here on this blog. been busy, really busy, my folks from east
texas have been here because they couldnt go home because they basically
had none of the things we are all used to having..electricity, gas, grocery stores.
no doctors, hospitals ...stuff like that.

then BOOM.....all of sudden power started getting restored, some places opened up,
my brother made a recon trip and checked it all out. the cities started letting
people back in. some had power, some didnt. who was gonna need to stay ?? who was
gonna want to get back ?? they didnt know, i didnt know.

Sunday morning the last of our band of brothers,(not literally brothers ) got up
early, packed their stuff and headed home. everybody's houses had made it thru
without major damage..heck with very little damage at all compared to a lot of folks.
we were lucky and i was feeling blessed.

then it hit me..i have tickets ( free ones even ) to the Game today !!!!!!!!
oh my..my routine was way off, i didnt have the lawn chairs loaded, the cooler
packed, no face paint...aaaaggghhhh oh well better to go unprepared than not go at
all. right ?? thats what i thought too. so me and my wife jump in the suv after
church..rush home..grab some water and at least my jersey. jump in the suv
take off as fast as we can (even though it was still 3 hours till game time ).
40 minute drive to the stadium and beat all the traffic.....uhh-ohhh.
we are halfway there when it hits me. for some reason i had turned on my
backyard sprinklers ( the ones no one can get to to turn off ). now i know its
going to be 7 hours till i get home. pre-game, game, post game, traffic...
what to do ?? what to do ??
i know i won't enjoy the game worrying so i turn around, make a mad dash back
west on I-20 to my house. must have looked really funny with the cowboy pennants
flying on my windows and the magnet that says "we're on our way, to see the Cowboys
play " and i am headed in the totally wrong direction. turn off the water, leave the car running, jump back in and zoom zoom zoom back to where we wanted to be.
ahhhhhhhhhh made it. still no bad traffic, thru the gates and in our seats
to watch the pregame warmups, boo the iggles when they come out and holler like
banshees when the good guys in the BLUE and SILVER come out.
then watch the best game, with the best crowd i have seen in years at Texas Stadium.
stood up nearly the whole game and loved every minute of it.
and to top it all off, my brother calls when we have the game in hand and tells
me the Astros have won, in 18 innings no less, with Clemens getting the win
in relief ! throw in the UT win over OU on saturday...no wonder i felt blessed.
it was a perfect weekend for a sports nut like yours truly. and the sky never
looked bluer (is that a word ? ) looking out the hole in the roof at Texas Stadium.

priorities

okay i loved the game sunday. it got my heart rate going enough i skipped
my usual 10 mile jog monday morning. yeah right like i ever jogged 10 miles
in my life. anyway i loved watching the Boys come back and win one after
falling behind away from home. takes a little of the sting away from last mondays
disaapointing loss.and as far as routine goes...this week about the only thing
i did that i usually do was to remember to go put on a cowboys jersey right
before the game started.
see...i was a little distracted. i had a house full of people. not just any people
but family . now my family knows me well enough to not bug me too much during
a cowboys game, they dont usually call, we live 5 hours apart so they cant just stop
by. but this week was a lot different.
a thing called Rita had decided to hit land really close to all their houses.
they all live in beaumont or just north of there. wednesday and thursday they had
wisely (as my old dad used to say ) " hooked up their hiney wagons " and blasted
off to my house. everybody made it without the well known "14 to 24 hour drive "
that usually only takes 5 or 5 1/2.
so instead of watching with only my wife and a few (very few) friends i had a
72 yr. old, a 5 yr. old, a couple of 20-somethings, (one of which is pregnant),
my older brother,( who often comments on this page ) and 3 dogs (one being a
beautiful 8 week old puppy ). man talk about a change in routine !!!!
and after last weeks blog about how it didnt really help i guess this just reinforced
that lesson.
and even as the Boys looked terrible, and the score got worse, and the 49'ers
looked totally unstoppable....i was gonna be okay with it. i really was, the people
i love and who loved me were all okay. they were safe, comfortable ( as much as that
diverse and large a group can be under one roof anyway ) and definitely alive.
when the Cowboys won this week it was just a bonus. we had already had our blessing.

A REVELATION

well it has happened again. 2 games into the season and i am slammed with a revelation. i followed my game day routine perfectly. i wore only dallas cowboy
clothing all day long, roy williams jersey, cowboy socks, shorts and even the lucky
underwear deal. i got out my emmitt smith record setting game day cap and wore it knowing it would get sweat saoked. i thought about the game all day long. i had the perfect pre game snacks and drinks for the tailgate party picked out. i got to the
stadium early and parked in my traditional lucky section C. i set up the pop up shade and got the table set. it was heaven . Texas Stadium was rocking even early which isn't always the case. Our little group(4) of fans whooped, hollered, waved towels, stood up a lot, slapped high fives...we did it all. we gave it everything we had.

even when the deadskins scored late we stayed positive but not over confident.
we STAYED FOCUSED....except for a late run to get a lemon chill to keep from
overheating. My son and I even turned our caps around backwards, inside out,
upside down, sideways...every which way but loose. we were 110 per centers.
i can't even talk today im so hoarse, my hands hurt from clapping so hard,
and my head is still roaring from all the noise. WE NEVER GAVE UP !!!!!

BUT...here it is, my latest revelation, which happens at least once a year
but i always forget it from year to year, heck even from game to game.

WHAT I DO HAS NO EFFECT ON THE OUTCOME OF THE GAME !!!!!!! AAAAAGGGHHHHHHHH
occasionally the crowd can really make a lot of noise and upset the other teams
offense, get your own team pumped up, but in the end the players have to make the plays, the coaches have to coach and you have to remember that the other guys in different colored jerseys are trying their best to upset what your team is trying to do.
It was still a blast being there, and yes i will do the same thing next time i get
a chance and the Cowboys are still my team. I may have to think about some new
underwear though........later Poke

Tribute to the Triplets

okay its 8 am monday morning, the Cowboys play at 8 pm. im ready for the game.
the car is loaded, my clothes are picked out, binoculars , camera, towels,
hats, ugly cowboy face mask, flags for the car windows...all sitting there
ready to go. this is a sickness...i only live 30-40 minutes from Texas Stadium.

But tonight is going to be something special. we play the redskins and its Monday
Night Football. and...the triplets are going into the Ring of Honor. I will tell
you right now that sometimes after a game I am not always in a good mood. things happen, bad things ..things i will not even allow myself to think about. soooo
i thought that before the game i would write something nice and level headed about
these guys. for one thing i loved watching them play together..they were beyond good.
you just expected them to come out and win and win handily. and they did, a lot.
3 Super Bowls in 4 years. you knew Irvin was going to make a great catch, Troy
was going to throw some great passes and Emmitt was going to give you every thing
he had running the ball. you just knew it. and i could go on and on about what they did and how they did it and just ramble but like they say " a picture is worth a
thousand words." so heres a picture. thanks to one of the many guys at
http://cowboyszone.com/forums/index.php? for this picture...i think it belongs to Jacs...if not sorry but it fit
my thought about them perfectly. 3 guys, 3 Super Bowls, 3 Rings.

i have done my piece on the triplets. now i can
concentrate on getting this years Cowboys to beat this years Deadskins. i feel better already. only 11 1/2 hours till gametime...gotta go .
oh by the way....Happy Birthday Big Brother !!! later Poke

Lets Dont TCU

wow......what a game !!! i almost died 4 times at the end of the game.
thank you Coach Marty for not using LaDanian that close to the end zone.
its a good week when your biggest worry is how to improve your kickoff
coverage. well, that might not be the biggest worry.
last week i watched in awe as TCU went to Norman OK. and the pretty boys
in purple uniforms beat those big bad red clad brutes on their home field.
unreal, a Mountain West team whipping a Big 12 powerhouse. but it happened.
then this week TCU went east 20 miles to take on a team that hasn't been a
powerhouse since the early 80's when the NCAA dealt them the death penalty
for violating a few too many rules. yep the good old SMU Mustangs from that
super tough Conference-USA. and TCU lost..21-10 not even close . TCU holds
Oklahoma to 10 points and then gives up 21 to SMU ????? How ? Why ?

that's what I love about sports..its not scripted. if you dont show up ready
to play your hardest you may get surprised. TCU sure did.

and that may be my biggest worry this week..I'm sure Parcells has thought about it.
all the experts ( most anyway ) picked San Diego to beat the Cowboys.
didn't happen though. Now this week I imagine most of those same geniuses will
pick the Cowboys to beat the Redskins. I mean the redskins put on an offensive
show against the Bears.......3 field goals and won 9-7. So I'm just guessing
that since the game is in Dallas, on Monday night, with the triplets going into
the Ring Of Honor, after winning a tough road game that the Boys will be favored
to win. And since I am a TOTAL HOMER I'm picking them to win too.

but please, please just don't do a TCU on us..........later Poke

a total HOMER

i have watched the Cowboys all my life, so long that i dont even remember exactly
when i became a fan. just to make it easy im gonna say 40 years. so its just an estimate but i have watched 500 of their games i'm sure.
people who know me know how much i like them so they are always asking me if i think
they are going to beat " whoever ". i always try to act like i have a great analytical mind and i list all the reasons why i think they will or will not win
that particular game. it makes great conversation and it beats griping about how
much gas costs or how hot it is and stuff like that.
BUT...i have a confession to make. I am only telling you folks this so you dont
all run out and make outlandish bets and lose your rent and grocery money.
I HAVE NEVER STARTED WATCHING THE COWBOYS PLAY A GAME THINKING THAT THEY WERE
GOING TO ACTUALLY LOSE !!!!
no matter what i may have said during a conversation or on a message board
down deep in my heart i always think the Cowboys are going to win. always.
thats why i am not a gambler. when i was a kid at school and some kid started
spouting off and wanting to bet their team would beat the Boys i always took
my lunch money and bet on my team..the Dallas Cowboys. you cant tell by looking
at me now but i sure did have to skip lunch a lot in those days. so i learned
early on not to bet on them. but i never learned and i dont guess i ever will
that they probably arent going to win every time they play. i mean i know it..
but i never quit hoping, wishing.
anyway since the season starts thursday (cowboys play sunday )i just wanted
to let ya'll know not to take the brilliant, insightful and extremely informative
information i put forth here and take it to Vegas and try to make a killing.
if you do its your own fault now . having said all that and in spite of the lessons
i learned at an early age i now predict the COWBOYS RECORD WILL BE 9-7.
(i also just learned how to edit these posts so if you are gonna make me eat those
words you better figure out a way to save this page somewhere )
anyway im ready...bring on the chargers...later Poke

Better Buy a Program

yep you better get you a program..this ain't last years Dallas Cowboys.
by my best count there are 18 new names on the 53 man roster this year.
and i am pretty sure Parcells isn't through making moves yet. of the 18
10..count em..thats 10 (ten) are ROOKIES. add those to the free agents
(bledsoe, ferguson, henry , rivera ) and then the trades (fujita) and
the signing of players released by other teams ( cortez, pile, peerless price)
and its easy to see this is going to be a different team.
better ?? i dont know, on paper i think we are better but until they actually
play the games who knows ??
heck im not even sure i got all the new names listed and i try really hard to
keep up with what they are doing on a daily basis. i would feel bad but
on the cowboys official website they still have a guy listed on the depth chart
that got cut at least 10 days ago, so this is as good as i can do.
besides at about $10 for a program ole Jerry might make enough money to sign us
some more new players. we still need another safety and it wouldnt be a bad thing
to have another offensive tackle too. so get out there...........buy a program
you are gonna need it. later Poke

One Mans trash is another mans Treasure

okay so i have been waiting patiently for preseason to end so i can get excited
about the Cowboys season. i am running out of patience so i decided to write
something..anything here just to clear my mind.
First things first..we played houston saturday night, beat them..nobody got hurt.
i didnt even watch the game because i was in galveston and i couldnt stand
listening to the houston announcers, plus there was a lighting storm going on
and the waves were getting bigger due to Hurricane Katrina so i just sat back
and enjoyed the moment with my wife.
Now...about THE TEAM. its cut time in the NFL. all the teams have started making
up their minds about who stays and who goes. So far the Boys havent really surprised
me with any of their cuts because mostly they got rid of guys i expected them to
except for a couple, Rogers and Cundiff, OT and PK. both of them were hurt so
even that was no surprise.
Here comes the fun part...looking at the other teams and seeing who they released
and deciding if they let anybody go that might help us. hey its a crapshoot for sure
but sometimes a change of scenery really does make a difference. and its a numbers
game, maybe a team is overloaded with lineman and you need one. maybe their castoff
is better than your 3rd team guy. heck maybe their castoff is bettter than your
1st team guy...i surely hope not but after a 6-10 season its possible.
i mean look closely, our entire starting backfield from last years, and the year
before that, and i think the year before that is TOTALLY out of the league.
gone..cut..not signed..by anybody !! of course that doesnt count Julius Jones but
he was not our starter on opening day (injured ).
its like taking a load of junk to the dumpyard, emptying out your trailer...then spotting like some totally perfect half sheets of plywood that you just know you
can use to make something out of..and hey those bricks in that pile over there
would make a perfect walkway if you can just knock the mortar off. surely i am not
the only person to ever come home with more junk than i left with am i ??
hmmm that might be the redneck in me peeking out... but why else would there be
all these yard sales ???
Maybe, just maybe the ole Jock Whisperer Bill Parcells can get something out of
one of these guys that their previous coach couldnt. anyway it gives me something
to watch for until 9-8 when thankfully the real season starts. i feel better already.

exhibition games

yeah so i am probably dating myself a bit here. when i was a kid that is what
these games were called. they werent "preseason " , they didnt count for much
and you were lucky if they put one on TV. then the owners decided they could sell
their tickets ( for the same stinking price as a regular game ) and the networks
figured out they could sell ads and lo and behold now these games are " important ".
i gripe about them, im sure the players gripe about them ( they dont get their regular paychecks for these games ) and even though the coaches dont gripe about
them in public i just bet you that they would prefer to just keep having practices instead of having to disrupt their practicing to "game plan " for an exhibition . anyway...the cowboys played the seahawks monday night in one of these "games ". our first team offense and defense looked better this week than last week. thats what you want to see. then about halfway thru the 2nd quarter both teams started putting in 2nd team players.
after that it gets a little harder to tell just who is doing great or if they are just beating up somebody who will be looking for a job this fall . if you really want
to know just how great some of our players are, and how bad some of our players are and how smart our coach is or how dumb our coach is then go to one of the many
"message boards " or "fan forums " that the Cowboys have. there you will find
so many experts and genuises that know so much about this team you will wonder
why Jerry Jones doesnt just read them, and run the team using their analysis and
save all that money he pays out for training camp, coaches, scouts, film teams
and all that other stuff.
to be honest there are great fans there, but thats all we are....fans ( short for fanatics by the way ) . you just have to keep telling yourself that those people
actually associated with the team might..just might know a little bit more than we do. anyway the Cowboys beat the Seahawks on the scoreboard 18-10. The cowboys
didnt suffer any serious injuries that i can find out about. it was fun to watch.
but it was still just an exhibition game to me. later Poke

keeping my promise

you see..i am already falling into my old habits. i havent posted here
in 10 whole days. i do that to keep from boring ya'll with unimportant
thoughts and ideas. good stuff that actually deserves to be written down
doesnt pop into my brain all that often.
okay so i promised i would tell you whats important in Cowboys world as it
develops. i wont go into how bad our offense looked because its the 1st
preseason game. i wont go into how weak our pass rush looked against
those mighty cardinals from arizona. i wont mention that Bledsoe did
look a little slow getting rid of the ball. i wouldnt dare remind any of
you who are old enough to remember that our right tackle (torrin tucker)
brought back so many memories of that fan favorite (Phil holding # 75 Pozderak).
see all those things dont bother me at all because its our 1ST PRESEASON GAME !
SO..PAY ATTENTION HERE..THIS IS THE IMPORTANT THING FROM SATURDAYS GAME
Nobody that is going to make this team and contribute got HURT !

there it is..real simple..NFL football is as much about attrition as it is X's and O's. Since nobody got hurt ( actually a safety we just picked up did mess up his shoulder but i didnt think he would make much impact anyway ..) i chalk up Saturday
as a good game. Now Coach Parcells can take the team back to camp, chew their butts
off, work them really hard and they cant complain much because they know that
saturday night in arizona they played like crap.

So there you go..nothing to worry about..things will get better..time heals all wounds..what doesnt kill you makes you stronger..save those Prozacs for the regular season. later Poke

Out of the Closet

hah !!!! got you with that title i bet. different closet though.
i just cant stand it any longer, i have a secret to tell.
i want to get it off my chest before the season starts because it really
has nothing to do with wins and losses. okay...here it goes.
I DONT LIKE BILL PARCELLS. Ahhhhhh i feel so much better now.
sure he's the coach of my favorite football team. sure i even think he is
the best coach for us right now. after years of incompetence and yes men
jerry jones had to get a real coach. bill parcells is definitely a real coach.
until jones proved he could butt out and let a coach be the coach we were not
ever going to get anybody here worth a dern. parcells is a good coach, a winning
coach, a smart coach....but it still doesnt make me like him. Im not sure why.
it probably comes from the fact that for years he was the coach of the NY Giants
and we played them twice a year and sometimes they beat us. or it could be that its
because he is a yankee..you know..the whole speech, mannerism attitude thing. just rubs me the wrong way. for too many years we had coaches who at least acted like they
wanted to keep the fans happy, the media informed and project a whole "one big happy family " theme. he doesnt do that. or at least not very well.
do i wish him ill will ?? of course not, i am pulling for him all the way, i hope he
gets us to another super bowl win....soon really soon. and then i hope he takes his
grumpy, sarcastic, joisey sounding , condescending , smart aleck butt back up there.
its just a personal thing , if you dont agree i understand completely..later Poke

Training Camp Predictions

ok here goes nothing. this year i predict :

at least one player we are counting on will get hurt.
at least one player will get released that surprises us.
at least one player will make the team that didnt have much of a chance at the beginning.
bill parcells will throw a fit at least once a day.
jerry jones will get on TV at least once a day.
the 4 networks and 2 newspapers from the DFW metroplex will barrage us with insights
that aren't insightful .
players will have ups and downs throughout camp and us fans will freak out or jump up and down
when each event is reported.
none of it will matter when the first play comes in the regular season because then it all boils
down to each player whipping the opposite player on the other team .
i keep telling myself this so i dont get too crazy waiting for 9-11.....when once again we get to
watch football on TV . ( i dont count preseason games as "real " football.

a history of triplets

you know ive always heard that twins run in certain families. so i guess its also possible that
"triplets " can too. the cowboys family certainly has had its share of them. now this might date
me a bit but i can think of 3 sets of triplets that have played for the pokes that any team in the
NFL would have been happy to have.
it also could be that i leave a set out...my memory isnt as good as i pretend it is and in spite of what my son might think i wasnt alive when football was invented. so with that disclaimer i will point
out the "triplets" who have made a mark on Dallas Cowboys football. i will list QB, WR, and RB.
in that order for those who have no clue who these first few names are.

Don Meredith------Bob Hayes-------Don Perkins ( and for at least one year you could substitute a guy named Dan Reeves....you know, the guy who does the commercial for Zocor).

Those 3 guys played some great games even though they never " won the big one ". Hayes
changed the way defense is played and Meredith has always just been one of my favorite
players. Nobody ran tougher than Perkins, and Reeves played his heart out in the "ice bowl "
game that most people have heard about being played on "the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field"

Roger Staubach----Drew Pearson----Tony Dorsett

Man what can i say about these 3. I dont care how good the newest set was in the 90's, these guys used to light it up. Pearson could catch anything anywhere. Dorsett was the absolute
quickest runner i ever saw and he also ran harder than he was given credit for. He could have had a gazillion yards running if Coach Landry would have wanted to run him to death the way
the Oilers did Earl Campbell. As far as Mr. Staubach goes....well you dont get the nicknames
he had ( roger the dodger...captain comeback....captain america ) by being dull and boring to watch. It always felt like the Cowboys were going to win if they didnt run out of time when he
was playing. Their 2 super bowl wins finally got people off Landrys back. ( yep..people used to bad mouth Landry before he became immortal ).

Troy Aikman-----Michael Irvin----Emmitt Smith

Their record speaks for itself, and they deserve all the recognition they get. Aikman was so good when he was good that it just killed the other teams. Irvin wasnt afraid to go against anybody
and Emmitt played with more heart and determination than anybody should. That game against the Giants where he kept pounding in there with a separated shoulder should have shut up anybody who said football players aren't as tough as when they played.

So we've been lucky, or blessed or something to have had players like this. Most teams never manage to have 3 skill players that good at the same time. theres been some other teams but
since they arent the cowboys...........who cares ?? later poke

the triplets

man i wasnt going to do this today. i mean 3 days in a row is kind of obsessive. i cant help myself. someone needs to do an intervention .
the announcement came that this year the triplets ( aikman, irvin and smith ) will be put into
the cowboys ring of honor. it really is a big deal to get put there...theres only like 14 people
from 45 years to ever make it. the triplets definitely deserve it....3 super bowls and all that
make you a revered individual in this part of the world. i just wish they would have waited.
there i said it. now all you who disagree can rip me all you want. i would have liked to have seen
some more of the older players get recognized first is all. drew pearson, too-tall jones, maybe
charlie waters up there with his buddy cliff harris. i really would like some of the even older
cowboys ( cornell green is one who comes to mind ) to get their names on the wall first. hey its
mr. jones team he can do it however he wants to but the cowboys have a lot of great history and
i sure would hate to see it forgotten.
i know its too long to wait but i think it would have been real special to see those 3 go in first at
the new stadium. all that being said...how cool is it going to be to see those 3 go in on a monday
night, against those hated despised useless hated redskins !!!!!!!!!!
anyway to answer Hank Williams Jr....
I AM READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL ! LATER poke

its next year already

see..i promised i would be here more this year. i am now working on a new personal
best record of 2 ...(two) days in a row. consistency is my goal and im on a roll now.
anyway time to point out that the cowboys are in for some serious change this year.
new QB, new RG, new NT, new FS, new CB, some new coaches, new scheme on defense.
other possible changes in personnel might include greg ellis and glover not playing as much,
as well as maybe some new LB's depending on how quick the rookies get on the field.
so what does it all mean ???
how the heck do i know ???? training camp isnt open yet, nobody has put any pads on and hit anybody yet, the water boy hasnt even filled up the ice bucket yet. that doesnt stop most people
from making asinine guesses and predictions though. no matter what game it is the players
still have to make the plays in order for all the great planning to work out. so i am taking a wait and see attitude for now while remaining always optimistic .
i actually cant wait for something to start happening but i hate all the experts and their beating to death of all the guesses, assumptions and predictions so i am holding back until i actually have some info before i open my mouth and plant my foot firmly in it. till then....later poke

I found it !!!!!!

wow...its been a while since i have been here. dust is everywhere. oh well the beauty of a place like this is that you dont have to stop by every day, or month or season. but im back now.
the new season is upon us. i was so discouraged last year by the cowboys i couldnt stand to write
about them. you know..the old saying , if you cant say something nice dont say anything at all.
so in september i just shut up about my beloved cowboys and suffered in silence.
but this year is going to be different. im going to put my 2 cents worth out there on a regular
basis. thats gotta be better than keeping it all bottled up. besides the idiots ive seen writing about the cowboys lately has convinced me that the world needs my sane, objective and totally unbiased
opinions floating around in cyberspace .
training camp will soon kick off in oxnard ca. 10 days from now i think. i dont get too worked
up over camp. its just a starting point. the papers and tv stations will tell us all we need to know
about every thing that doesnt matter. i will be here to point out the important stuff. see ya in a few days.........poke
